Charities

GivekidstheworldI was introduced to an organization called Give Kids the World Village in September 2013. I was amazed that I had never heard of this organization before since I am passionate about children, especially those with life-threatening illnesses. Of course, I knew of Make A Wish, but I never realized that they had a partnership (along with many other wish granting organizations) with Give Kids the World.

I am a huge Disney fan (evidenced by my other blog, MamaMouse, and have traveled to Orlando many, many times, but I never knew that a short distance from the World, was a resort that was dedicated to fulfilling those wishes. How could that be? How could there be an actual resort that takes in and never turns away a child with a life-threatening illness who wants to go to Central Florida? How could this organization be off the radar for the 25 years it has been in existence?

I knew I had to help get the word out about the amazing things they do. I had the privilege to travel to Florida to see the resort first hand and it was such an amazing and overwhelming experience. My heart sank and was lifted at the very same time. When I got back to my hotel, I hugged my children more tightly than I ever have before and thanked God that I have been blessed with healthy children.  From that point on, I knew I needed to hop on board as an Awareness Angel for Give Kids the World.

Why am I telling you this?

First, to share with you why I am so passionate about what they do.

Second, to help you understand why you will see posts about this amazing organization.

Third, to help spread the word about the work they do and pray that people will feel led to help out either monetarily or through their time and service.
