Friday night, I was blessed to hear Pastor Joel Osteen preach at the North Charleston Coliseum. He was joined by his wife Victoria, his mother Dodie, his two children and the Lakewood Church worship band. If you have never heard him preach in person and he comes to your city, you should. God has certainly given him a gift to be able to reach people with words of hope and God’s love.
What was the night about? It was all about giving God our lives. It was about the hope that is only provided in a man who died on a cross and came back to life to give us the amazing gift of true love. It was about renewal and new beginnings, no matter where we are in life or what we have done. It was about understanding that whatever we have at the moment is what we need. Not that we don’t strive for more, but that God knows exactly what we need. In this fast-paced world of wanting the newest, biggest of everything, sometimes we get caught up in what we want and think that it’s what we need. God is telling us to slow down. To focus on what we have, what He has blessed us with at that very moment. Most importantly, that the one thing we do need is Jesus. We may think we need alot of things, but the one thing we should want AND need is a deeper relationship with Jesus. There is hope in Jesus. There is renewal. There is restoration. And there are new beginnings for anyone. That’s right. Even you.
Where are you in your life? God wants to meet you right where you are. This is not about religion, denomination or even listening to any particular pastor. This is about you. It is about you and Jesus beginning a relationship or you re-dedicating your life to Jesus. There is no time like the present. Throw off all the hurt, shame, self-doubt, anger, whatever has held you back. It is time. He is waiting for you and the best part is, He will wait for you as long as it takes and will continue to love you through it all. There is hope. Friday night proved it. God came into an arena in the city of Charleston and transformed lives. Will you let Him do the same for you?
If you will, say this prayer,
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. Come into my heart. I make you my Lord and Savior.
The next step is so important in your journey. Find a solid, bible-based church and join in fellowship with the community. If you are not sure of where to go or have no way of getting there, there are many churches that offer online worship services. The way you will grow your faith is to make sure you read your bible daily, pray and seek God’s Word. There are also many online programs that offer the bible to read for free. My favorite is www.biblegateway.com. There is also an app for your smartphone if you have it. You can take God’s Word wherever you go!
If you said that prayer, I would love to hear from you. To pray for you. There is hope. There are new beginnings.
